Screenwriters and storytellers take note! You have until 30 September to submit your scripts for the WGSA Muse Awards, and if you’re an AnimationSA member there’s more good news: if you’re not part of the Writers’ Guild of South Africa (WGSA), you can simply use your ASA membership number to enter!

What’s that? You’re not a member yet? You can fix that right now.

The competition is calling for scripts from eight categories—live action (short and long form), television shows, documentaries, stage plays, radio dramas, web series, games, and animation (short and long form). Both produced and unproduced scripts are accepted.

The WGSA MUSE Awards Committee is made up of local and international film and television professionals who will score your script in eight categories (Professional Format and Presentation, Pace, Story and Structure, Language and Style, Genre, Characterisation, and Concept and Theme). The judging will take place from October and the finalists will be announced in January with an award ceremony to follow.

In terms of animation, the competition is open to features, shorts and series.

You’ll find all the relevant information you need to enter on WGSA’s competition page, and if you have any further questions, mail the lovely Thea Aboud at admin@writersguildsa.org
