Animation SA’s outreach programme, Draw for Life, is drawing attention! Launched in partnership with Sparks Flew Development Studio and PASCAP Trust with the support of The Animation School and Triggerfish Foundation, Draw for Life is a ten-week course offering the fundamentals of drawing for animation to underprivileged teens in the Cape Flats area.
We were really pleased to be featured in The Times this week!

We’ve had a fantastic time over the last five weeks at Draw for Life, teaching the skills of capturing movement on the page with the end goal of showing our learners how to put together a portfolio that will be meaningful to an animation college. We’ve seen our eight learners growing in leaps and bounds, and our models, who came to strut their stuff in the disciplines of jiu jitsu, ballet, karate and belly dancing, were inspiring in themselves. We hope that some of our learners will go on to be shining lights of the next generation of young animators… and that we won’t lose too many to careers in dance and the martial arts!
